Having five Cocker Spaniels of our own, each being groomed slightly differently, some handstripped, some clippered (and being a bit of a perfectionist) I wanted them trimmed just the way I liked them so I decided to learn how to do it myself. It took a lot of hard work and a few mistakes on our own dogs but I had them all looking nice and other owners started to ask "who trims your dogs" so I started to trim a couple of other dogs, and then their friends came and Craig's Dog Grooming took off from there.
I started to learn to groom while at school (2006), helping other groomers and dog breeders, when I left school I went to Sparsholt college and completed a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management (NDAM) (with triple Distinctions!)

I finished the NDAM at Sparsholt in 2009 and set up Craigs Dog Grooming which I did almost full time for a year (amongst various farming work, volenteering at the vets/rescue centres and charity work).
I am now back at Sparsholt (with University of Portsmouth) studying towards the FdSc Veterinary Nursing Science degree, currently in year two of three. Due to studying I am now only trimming dogs on a Sunday although I do have the odd evening appointment if needed.
I want all the dogs that come to me to enjoy being groomed. When dogs come to me for the first time they are allowed to run around and play with my other dogs to make it a fun experience for them. When dogs arrive with me they can be scared due to the different environment and the noise of the other dogs barking although they usually leave feeling content and can't wait till the next time so that they can play with our dogs again.
In June 2007 I became a qualified implanter of transponders (microchips) so am able to offer this service to anyone who requires it, please take a look at my
